Bendis on DC's flagship Batman title? A small meme leads to few giant speculation
When DC signed Brian Michael Bendis to a "multi-faceted" exclusive creator deal in 2017, one of the most obvious potential assignments for the accomplished noir/superhero author was one of the publisher's two main Batman titles - Detective Comics or Batman. In the three long time and change since then, that speculation/hope among readers was never realized.
On the other hand, Brian Michael Bendis recently tweeted this:
Yes, Bendis wrote a great Batman story with the Walmart-first 'Batman Population' plot line, once famously pitched a Batman/Harum-scarum crossing in a public forum, and has been featuring Batman as part of an corps de ballet in his current Justice League serial and the evolving Event Leviathan saga.
Sol his ambiguous tweet could awful a lot of things, especially considering his scoop District of Columbia deal expired, and many of his DC titles came to an end … or in the case of his creator-owned channel, are being moved to Dark Horse Comics
But few things have occurred around the Batman titles that make his tweet Charles Frederick Worth some thoughtful.
First, writer James Tynion IV very publicly exited the Batman title fresh and subsequently explained that he was in dialogue to write the serial publication for "years" (plural) before he decided to prefer-down in favor of creator-owned work.
Now what that did to DC's schedule nobody only Direct current knows, but it quickly filled the Batman role with the already-busiest-author-at-DC, Joshua Williamson (along with artist Jorge Molina), albeit only temporarily … at the least as right Eastern Samoa we know. DC officially proclaimed Williamson and Molina every bit creating a quadruplet-issue arc beginning in December, as opposed to announcing them as the new Batman weak creative team.
And after a year of doubly-monthly shipping for its dependably best-selling on-going title under Tynion and artist Jorge Jiménez, Batman will replication to monthly shipping for at least December, suggesting perhaps the change over from Tynion-Jiménez to Williamson-Molina didn't happen with plenty lead-time to keep the twice-monthly shipping sledding.

That mystery author(s) has ne'er been publicly addicted, simply we question if the same affair could be happening with Williamson.
And that brings us full circle back to Bendis' tweet, his evolving relationship with DC in the background signal all this time, and again, his obvious fit for the role.
Could "things interchange" in context to Batman be about a At-bat-window that seemed obstructed opening up once more for Bendis?
Hmm…. that's a lot of original venture, for sure. DC more often than not runs a viselike ship announcing this sort of thing, but Bendis's tweet almost certainly means something.
So maybe readers are in store for some interesting Bendis/Batman comics coming in 2022, and if that comes to overstep, maybe the story behind it all would bring off a compelling continuation to Bendis' tell-all Chance and Glory series.
Time will tell off if James Tynion IV's run stacks sprouted with the best Batman creators of all clip.
